Visakhapatnam: The Adventure Club of Telangana (ACTS), Adventure Club of Andhra Pradesh
(ACAP) in association with Amaze Adventures made a world record in waterfall rappelling, which they
achieved at Katika Falls (400 plus ft) in Araku valley on Saturday. Bolstered by the spectacular

    on

Feat recognised by Limca Book of Records

    A 40member
team from the adventure groups, including local tribal youth, rappelled down the 400plus
feet Katika Falls to create a new world record. “We have organised this at Katika so as to
promote the region as a global tourism destination. We are happy that we managed to create a world
record. Apart from our team, 10 local tribal boys are being trained as trekking guides.
They have been trained into the nuances of rock climbing and rappelling so that they could double up
as trained guides while the government promotes adventure ecotourism in the region,” said Founder
Director of ACTS K Ranga Rao.
Amaze Adventures’ Managing Director Kalpesh Shah said, “We are happy to announce that we
passed another milestone. We have been organising waterfall rappelling exercises since 2010. This
feat is officially recognised by the Limca Book of Records.”

Visakhapatnam: Even as the mercury began to soar in the plains of the district, a group of adventure
enthusiasts has set new records at Katika waterfalls in the Agency areas.
About 40 adventure enthusiasts from the Adventure Club of Telangana (ACTS) and the Adventure
Club of AP (ACAP) have claimed 26 world records in waterfall rappelling after two days of hectic
activity at the Katika waterfalls. The event was organised in association with Amaze Adventures.
ACTS founder director K Ranga Rao said, "Several records were broken during the twoday
    event.
We had the youngest boy to the fastest man 'jummering' (a technique to climb steep slopes in quick
time) at the event. We also had tandem rappelling for women, and five women rappelled down at a
    time to create records."
